Cleaning up the list of cached cached host connection entries in VMware Infrastructure Client (1013644)

  • 6 Ratings

Purpose

When you connect VMware Infrastructure (VI) Client to VirtualCenter, vCenter Server, or ESX hosts, the IP addresses or hostnames are cached on your computer and are listed under the IP address / Name dropdown menu each time you start VI Client. In a large environment, this list can be quite long.

This article provides instructions to clean up this list.

Resolution

Note: This procedure modifies the Windows registry. Before making any registry modifications, ensure that you have a current and valid backup of the registry and the virtual machine. For more information on backing up and restoring the registry, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 136393.
