Checking the View Agent installation and status (1006780)

  • Unable to connect to the virtual desktop
  • Connection to the virtual desktop fails  
  • You see the error:

    The desktop has failed to open. This desktop is currently not available. Please try connecting to this desktop again later, or contact your system administrator.


Ensure the View Agent is installed and running on the virtual machine.
To ensure the View Agent is installed and running:
  1. Verify that the correct version of the View Agent is installed:

    1. Click Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
    2. Choose VMware View Agent and click Click here for support information.
    3. Ensure that the View Agent version matches the VDM Connection Server version.

  2. Verify that the View Agent service is running:

    1. Click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > VMware View Agent.
    2. Verify that the status is started.
    3. If you are unable to start the service, restart the virtual machine. If the problem persists, reinstall the View Agent.
