User with 'Create' privilege cannot create virtual machines on host client (1004417)

  • 5 Ratings

Details

If a user is assigned a custom role that has only the Create privilege, the user cannot create virtual machines.

Solution

To fix this problem, add four additional privileges to the custom role assigned to the user by performing the following tasks in the Assigned Role section:
  1. Expand the Virtual Machines category, followed by the Configuration subcategory, and select the following:
    • Add New Disk
    • Memory
    • Add or Remove Devices

  2. Expand the Resource category, and select Assign Virtual Machine To Resource Pool.

A user can create virtual machines only if the user is assigned a custom role with the privileges Create, Add New Disk, Memory, Add or Remove Devices, and Assign Virtual Machine To Resource Pool.
