Click KB Home to return to the Knowledge Base (KB) home page (

Search the Knowledge Base
Enter search terms, and filter search results by product and categories such as Best Practices, How to, and Troubleshooting. For best practices and other information about searching, see Searching the VMware Knowledge Base (9268797).
View by Article ID
Enter the KB article ID in the View by Article ID field and click View. The article opens directly and you do not have to choose the article in search results.
Article of the Day
The Knowledge Base features a hot article every day. To view the article, click the link.
Browse: Products
To browse articles by product:
  1. In the Browse: Products section on the left side, click + next to the type of product (your options are Datacenter, Desktop, Developer Support, My VMware PDA, and Volume Purchasing Program).
  2. To search for all versions, click the product name. To search by product versions, click + next to the product, then click the product version.
  3. Click the Most Popular Documents or Most Recent Documents tab to view results.

To view the most popular and most recent articles, click the Most Popular Documents or Most Recent Documents tabs.
Additional Resources
  • Alerts – By default, the KB home page displays alerts that may be of interest. To find to more about an alert, click on the link.
  • Answer Wizards  – The answer wizards help you isolate and troubleshoot commonly occurring issues. To use the answer wizard, click on a topic, then answer the questions. You are provided with links to articles related to your issue.
  • KBTV is the Knowledge Base video repository.
  • Weekly KB Digest is a list of all articles published in a past week.
  • Support Insider is a blog that discusses support and KB-related issues.
  • Request New Content allows you to request a KB article. Be sure to provide as much detail as possible.

Actions box
 The Actions box allows you to:
  • Bookmark a document
  • Copy an article's URL
  • Email the document
  • Print the document
  • Subscribe to the document
  • Share the document on applications such as MySpace and Facebook
  • Tweet about the document
The Actions box also provides the following information:
  • Article ID
  • The date the article was last updated
  • The applicable categories
  • The applicable Products and Product Versions
Request a Product Feature
If you have feedback about a product or have a product feature request, click the Request a Product Feature link.
To simply rate an article, click the Star rating at the top or bottom of the article. You can give an article a 1-5 star rating.
To provide more in-depth feedback:
  1. Scroll to the bottom of the article.
  2. Click the desired star rating.
  3. Indicate whether or not the article helped you.
  4. Tell us how you think the article can be improved.
  5. Click Submit.
