How to change SVGA settings for Instant Clone Pools (2151745)

  • 0 Ratings

Starting with Horizon 7.2, SVGA settings (# of monitors, max resolution) for an Instant Clone pool is inherited from the values configured in the master image.  This KB provides information on how to configure the SVGA settings in the master image. By default, vCenter configures 1 monitors and max resolution of 1280x800 in the master VM, however, this value may change with different versions of vCenter or even different versions of OS, so it is always best practice to configure these settings yourself.  Prior to Horizon 7.2, the SVGA settings for the instant clone pools were hard coded to 2 monitors and a max resolution of 1600x1200.  They cannot be changed. Note: This is valid only for non vGPU environments. In case of vGPU being enabled, SVGA settings (monitors & vRam size) are taken from vGPU graphics settings.

To change SVAG settings for Instant Clone Pools:

  1. Open vSphere Web Client console
  2. Go to the master VM with which you want to deploy Instant Clone Pool
  3. Right Click the master VM and select Edit Settings…
  4. Expand Video card and click Video Memory Calculator
  5. Change Number of displays or Resolution to your preference
  6. Once the settings are changed, take a snapshot and use it for a new Instant Clone Pool or do Push Image on existing pool
