vSAN 6.6 (vSphere 6.5.0d or ESXi 6.5 ESXi650-201704001 or Express Patch 2) GA’d April 18, 2017

This is a highly anticipated release that delivers immense value through new features and performance enhancements. For more information, see the vSAN 6.6 Realease Notes.

Notable highlights for this release:
  • vSAN 6.6 is arguably the biggest release of vSAN since inception, delivering software-based Encryption, local protection with stretched clusters, ease of management and up to 50% higher performance.
  • vSAN 6.6 was released within 5 months of vSAN 6.5, a record pace of innovation for vSAN.
This is the first major release of vSAN delivered through a vSphere patch release. This mechanism enables VMware to deliver major features in vSAN in a highly agile manner.
