How to remove a disk from a vSAN host (2150593)

Purpose

 This articles provides steps to safely remove a disk from a vSAN host.

Resolution

To safely remove a disk from a vSAN Host:
  1. Set the DRS automation level to manual.
  2. vMotion virtual machines to other hosts.
  3. Set vSAN Disk Management to Manual.
  4. Remove Disk from Disk group (with full data evacuation).

    Note: If you are using deduplication, the entire diskgroup must be evacuated.

  5. Wait for Resync to Finish.
  6. Remove Physical Disk from Server Slot.
