Modifying the name resolution settings of the VMware vRealize Operations Manager vApp (2115840)

  • 4 Ratings

This article provides steps to modify the name resolution settings of the VMware vRealize Operations Manager vApp (formerly known as VMware vCenter Operations Manager (vApp)).

When VMware vRealize Operations Manager is initially deployed, the only name resolution settings that can be configured are the DNS servers to be queried. These steps provide a method for changing the DNS servers as well as adding a default domain and a search domain:

  1. Log in to the vRealize Operations Manager node as the root user.
  2. Remove /opt/vmware/etc/vami/flags/vami_setnetwork by running this command:

    rm /opt/vmware/etc/vami/flags/vami_setnetwork
  1. Run the /opt/vmware/share/vami/vami_set_dns script, with the appropriate switches:
/opt/vmware/share/vami/vami_set_dns [-d <domain] [-s <searchpath>] DNS_Server_1 [DNS_Server_2]

Note: The items in brackets are optional parameters.

  1. Repeat steps 1 to 3 on all other nodes in the cluster.

Note: If the version of vRealize Operations Manager is 5.x, ensure that steps one through three are completed on the UI and Analytics virtual machines.

After updating the name resolution settings, changing the settings in the virtual machine vApp settings dialogue will not function as expected.
