Unable to upgrade vSAN disk format (2109893)

  • 0 Ratings

Details

When you run the vsan.v2_ondisk_upgrade command to upgrade the disk format from version 1 to the new on-disk format 2.0, the upgrade process might fail with the following error:
Failed to remove disk group from VSAN, aborting and disks marked unhealthy.

This happens when you are using the older version of firmware on H220 controllers.

Solution

Upgrade to the latest version of firmware.
Always use the firmware versions that are certified and listed in the VMware Compatibility Guide web site at http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php.
