  • 1 Ratings

This article provides steps to disable vSphere Flash Read Cache in vSphere 5.5.
You may want to disable vSphere Flash Read Cache if you are not using it or if it is on a local SSD disk that you want to claim for vSAN.

To disable vSphere Flash Read Cache:
  1. In the vSphere Web Client, navigate to the host that has a Flash Read Cache resource configured.
  2. Click the Manage tab.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Under Virtual Flash, select Virtual Flash Resource Management and click Remove All.

Note: After the Virtual Flash resource is removed and the SSD disk is erased, the disk becomes available for vSAN. For more information, see Enabling Virtual SAN in the vSphere 5.5 Storage Guide.
