Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Attempt to  to run Get-EsxSoftwarePackage, it fails with the "Error Failed to load VibSign Python modulePowerCLI 13.1 - ImageBuilder Error - "failing to load VibSign Python module"

Environment

VMware vSphere PowerCLI 13.1
VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x

Cause

Currently PowerCLI is not supported to be run on linux on top of an ARM machine
As of now we support only Powercli on Windows (x86), Linux (x86), Mac (x86, M1/M2).

If this error occurs on any non-ARM machine, it simply means that OpenSSL 1.1 is not installed.

Resolution

This is a known issue and currently there is no resolution.

Workaround:
To workaround this issue  use PowerCLI on a non-ARM Linux machine.
