Issue/Introduction
After upgrading vCenter Server to 8.0, the existing roles possessing Datastore.Config privilege will also possess an extra privilege, Datastore.ConfigIOManagement.
Environment
VMware vCenter Server 8.0.0
Resolution
Prior to 8.0, enable/disable/change Storage IO Control requires the privilege, Datastore.Config. Starting 8.0 a dedicated privilege, Datastore.ConfigIOManagement is introduced for the same operations.
The operations that require this new privilege is a subset of the operations that previously require the Datastore.Config privilege. Hence, the new privilege is automatically added to all existing roles possessing the Datastore.Config privilege during the vCenter upgrade.
