Avi Controller throws the “Failed to process serial key. Syserr: SYSERR_LICENSE_DECRYPTION_FAILED Vmw error: NONE_FOUND” error when a VMware serial key license that the current Avi Controller version does not support is applied.
This might be due to either:
• Customer trying to import a NX-ALB-SU-TLSS-C SKU based serial key on v20.1.6
or
• Customer trying to import a NX-ALB-SC-TLSS-C SKU based serial key on v21.1.3
If a valid active VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer (Avi) serial key license is not working on your existing Avi Controller version, follow these steps to resolve the issue.
The serial key license might need to be either ‘upgraded’ or ‘downgraded’ on VMware’s customerconnect portal as described in this KB article before being applied on the Avi Controller. Please follow this article and apply the upgraded and/or downgraded serial key license on the Avi Controller. Please note, that this mechanism might not work for all VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer (Avi) serial key licenses.
In case step 1. does not work, customers are recommended to upgrade Avi as specified and then apply for the serial key license on the Avi Controller:
If running Avi v20.1.x, then upgrade to v20.1.8-2p1 or a later release.
If running Avi v21.1.3, then upgrade to v21.1.3-2p5 or a later release.
If running Avi v21.1.1 or v21.1.2, then upgrade to v21.1.4 or a later release.
Note:
Greenfield deployments are recommended to choose the latest VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer (Avi) release from the active trains.
In case step 2. Is not possible, customers are requested to file a VMware support case with the following details for the serial key license in question:
Customer Name
Customer Email address
VMware PO # (if available)
VMware Entitlement Account #
VMware serial key
VMware team will fulfill this request and send an email to the customer with access to a temporary production license which they can access from https://portal.avinetworks.com. Customers can then apply this license on the Avi Controller.
