Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • The environment is running NSX-T Data Center 3.x with ESXi 7.0.2 or a later version
  • ESXi hosts have been upgraded to 7.0.2+ and use a third party custom ISO
  • vMotion of an NSX-T Edge VMs may fail.
  • NSX-T Host preparation may fail on some hosts.
  • Communication between ESXi and NSX-T managers are not working.
  • On ESXi hosts, executing localcli commands such as localcli software vib list will fail with an errors similar to the below:
>localcli software vib list
Error loading plugin /usr/lib/vmware/esxcli/ext/amsd-amsd.xml skipping. Error was: Error while trying to register the plugin /usr/lib/vmware/esxcli/ext/amsd-amsd.xml Esxcli path is already registered: amsd.periodictrap The functionality in /usr/lib/vmware/esxcli/ext/amsd-amsd.xml will not be available until this issue is resolved.
Error loading plugin /usr/lib/vmware/esxcli/ext/amshelpr.xml skipping. Error was: Error while trying to register the plugin /usr/lib/vmware/esxcli/ext/amshelpr.xml Esxcli path is already registered: amshelper.ahslog The functionality in /usr/lib/vmware/esxcli/ext/amshelpr.xml will not be available until this issue is resolved.
Error loading plugin /usr/lib/vmware/esxcli/ext/smad_rev.xml skipping. Error was: Error while trying to register the plugin /usr/lib/vmware/esxcli/ext/smad_rev.xml Esxcli path is already registered: sma.status The functionality in /usr/lib/vmware/esxcli/ext/smad_rev.xml will not be available until this issue is resolved.

Cause

This issue occurs due to old third party VIBs which have not been removed.
