Issue/Introduction

What is VMware Aria Operations Configuration Max for VMC?

VMware Aria Operations (formerly known as vRealize Operations) provides a mechanism to track VMC limits and consumption against those limits, as well as ensures customer is alerted when close to hit a limit or have already exceeded a limit.

The limits are fixed by VMC and are of 2 flavors, hard and soft. The hard limit cannot be changed at all while the CSMs can modify the soft limit and update the same in VMC ORG or SDDC information for the customer. It is important that all the limits are fetched using APIs but in current version there some hardcoded ones.

Environment

VMware vRealize Operations 8.6.x
VMware vRealize Operations 8.5.x
VMware vRealize Operations 8.3.x
VMware vRealize Operations 8.10.x
VMware vRealize Operations 8.4.x

Resolution

Change the limits

Whenever the request to update the soft limit(s) in the VMC ORG or SDDC are made, corresponding limit(s) should be updated in VMware Aria Operations either automatically through API or manually in the VMC account configuration file.
Ideally all limits should be fetched through API automatically, but currently some are hardcoded.

Note: In the case of manually updating the configuration file, the VMC account and all relevant adapters should be restarted so the change takes place.
  1. To see a list of limits in VMware Aria Operations, log into the VMware Aria Operations UI as an administrator.
  2. Navigate to Administration > Configuration > Configuration Files > SolutionConfig > vmc_config_limits.
  3. The limit Name, Type, and Value can be see for each limit.  To manually make an adjustment, click the Ellipsis > Edit.
  4. Make the necessary adjustments to match the VMC ORG or SDDC and click Save.
