Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • In the vSphere UI there is a persistent/recurring alarm triggered for a vSAN cluster
  • The alarm states:
    • vSAN health alarms are suppressed

Environment

VMware vSAN 6.7.x
VMware vSAN 7.0.x

Cause

During vSAN cluster configuration via Quickstart, various Health alarms are intentionally suppressed, these revert to being unsuppressed once configuration via Quickstart has completed. However, if the Quickstart wizard is started but never completed, this state will persist until the Quickstart configuration is completed or cancelled.

Resolution

This state of alarm suppression can be cleared by either:
  • Completing the Quickstart configuration for the cluster.
or
  • Cancelling the current Quickstart configuration process via the vSphere UI:
    • Cluster > Configure > Configuration > Quickstart > Skip Quickstart
