Upgrade to vRealize Operations Manager 8.0 hangs on step 4 of 9

Issue/Introduction
Symptoms:
- The upgrade to vRealize Operations Manager 8.0 is hung on step 4 of 9 for one or more nodes in the vRealize Operations Manager cluster.
- The /var/log/vmware/vcops/vcops_upgrade_date_time.log file has a last line similar to:
2019-10-23 19:42:58,328 - b2b - DEBUG - updateCoordinator - runScript - Script command: "chage -m 0 -M 99999 -I -1 -E -1 postgres"
- The ps -ea | grep chage command shows a running process for the chage command on one or more nodes in the vRealize Operations Manager cluster.
Environment
VMware vRealize Operations 8.x
Cause
The change command is hung, causing the upgrade to hang until the change command completes.
Resolution
To resolve the issue, run the change command manually and stop the hung change command.
- Log into the vRealize Operations Manager node as root via SSH or console.
- Run the following command to disable the password expiration for the postgres user:
chage -m 0 -M 99999 -I -1 -E -1 postgres
- Run the following command to stop the hung chage command:
pkill -9 chage
- Repeat steps 1-3 on all other affected nodes in the vRealize Operations Manager cluster.
