Issue/Introduction

This article provides instructions for how to add a product to the Skyline Collector. Adding a product to the Skyline Collector enables VMware to provide an enhanced technical support experience, as outlined within the VMware Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) Enhanced level of participation.

Resolution

To add products to the Skyline Collector, first, log in to the Skyline Collector user interface. To access the Skyline Collector user interface, open a web-browser and enter the fully-qualified domain name or IP address of the Skyline Collector in the address bar. Log in to the Skyline Collector. After successfully logging-in to the Skyline Collector, adding products to the Skyline Collector can be completed from the Configuration page.

Add vCenter Server to Skyline Collector.

Follow the instructions to add a vCenter Server to the Skyline Collector. (Collector versions 2.7 and above)
  1. In the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.

  2. Under PRODUCTS, click vCenter Server.

  3. Click Add vCenter Server.

  4. Enter the FQDN/IP Address of the vCenter Server to add.

  5. Enter an Account Username & Password to add the vCenter Server to the Skyline Collector. Ensure the account used as the minimum required privileges, as outlined in KB Article 59661.

 

Follow the instructions to add a vCenter Server to the Skyline Collector. (Collector versions Pre-2.7)

  1. In the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.

  2. Under PRODUCTS, click vCenter Server.

  3. Click Add vCenter Server.

  4. Enter the FQDN/IP Address of the vCenter Server to add.

  5. Enter an Account Username & Password to add the vCenter Server to the Skyline Collector. Ensure the account used as the minimum required privileges, as outlined in KB Article 59661.

  6. If you are using an external PSC/SSO, or using a custom Single-Sign-On domain, toggle the Use Custom SSO Configuration button to the right. The switch states Yes, and will turn green. If you are not using an external PSC/SSO, or using a custom Single-Sign-On domain, skip to Step X.

  7. Enter the PSC/SSO Host Address.

  8. If you did not change the PSC/SSO configuration from the default, you DO NOT need to complete the Advanced Options (Optional) fields. If you are using a custom SSO domain, enter the SSO Admin URL, SSO STS URL, and Lookup Service URL for your custom SSO domain. To locate your SSO domain advanced options, see the vCenter Server vpxd.cfg file. For vCenter Server Appliance 6.x, the vpxd.cfg file is located in /etc/vmware-vpx/. in Windows Server, the vpxd.cfg file is located in C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\vpxd.cfg. In vCenter Server 6.0, the vpxd.cfg file is located in C:\ProgramData\Vmware\vCenterServer\cfg\vmware-vpx.

  9. You can choose to collect product usage data from all data centers managed by the vCenter Server, or select which data centers to include in the collection of product usage data. A Data center consists of ESXi hosts, virtual machines, and the configuration and feature usage data of these objects.

  10. To complete adding the vCenter Server to the Skyline Collector, click Add.

Add NSX-V to Skyline Collector

Follow these instructions to add an NSX-V to a Skyline Collector.

  1. In the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.

  2. Under PRODUCTS, click NSX-V.

  3. Click Add NSX-V.

  4. Enter the FQDN/IP Address of the NSX-V.

  5. Enter an Account Username & Password to add the NSX Manager to the Skyline Collector. Ensure the account used as the minimum required privileges, as outlined in KB Article 59661.

  6. To complete adding the NSX-V to the Skyline Collector, click Add.

Add NSX-T to Skyline Collector

Follow these instructions to add an NSX-T to a Skyline Collector.

  1. In the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.

  2. Under PRODUCTS, click NSX-T.

  3. Click Add NSX-T.

  4. Enter the Virtual IP Address (VIP) of the NSX Manager nodes cluster.

  5. Enter an Account Username & Password to add NSX-T to the Skyline Collector. Ensure the account used as the minimum required privileges, as outlined in KB Article 59661.

  6. To complete adding the NSX-T to the Skyline Collector, click Add.

Add Horizon Connection Server to Skyline Collector

Follow the instructions to add a Horizon Connection Server to the Skyline Collector.

  1. In the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.

  2. Under PRODUCTS, click Horizon View.

  3. Click Add Horizon View.

  4. Enter the FQDN/IP Address of the Horizon Connection Server.

  5. Enter an Account Username & Password to add the Horizon Connection Server to the Skyline Collector. Ensure the account used as the minimum required privileges, as outlined in KB Article 59661.

  6. To complete adding the Horizon Connection Server to the Skyline Collector, click Add.

Add vRealize Operations Manager to Skyline Collector

Follow the instructions to add a vRealize Operations Manager to the Skyline Collector.

  1. n the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.

  2. Under PRODUCTS, click vRealize Operations.

  3. Click Add vRealize Operations.

  4. Enter the FQDN/IP Address of the vRealize Operations Manager.

  5. Enter an Account Username & Password to add the vRealize Operations Manager to the Skyline Collector. Ensure the account used as the minimum required privileges, as outlined in KB Article 59661. If using an Active Directory account to add the vRealize Operations Manager to the Skyline Collector, follow these guidelines. For a user '[email protected]', enter just the username, without the domain, in the Account Username field. Example: 'administrator'. For the Authentication Source field, for the domain 'corp.local', enter just 'corp'.

  6. To complete adding the vRealize Operations Manager to the Skyline Collector, click Add.


Add vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager to Skyline Collector

Follow the instructions to add a vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager to the Skyline Collector.

  1. In the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.

  2. Under PRODUCTS, click vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager.

  3. Click Add vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager.

  4. Enter the FQDN/IP Address of the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager.

  5. Enter an Account Username & Password to add the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager to the Skyline Collector. Ensure the account used as the minimum required privileges, as outlined in KB Article 59661.

  6. To complete adding the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager to the Skyline Collector, click Add.

 

Add vRealize Automation Organization to Skyline Collector

Follow the instructions to add a vRealize Automation Organization to the Skyline Collector.

  1. In the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.

  2. Under PRODUCTS, click vRealize Automation.

  3. Click Add Organization.

  4. Enter the FQDN/IP Address of the vRealize Automation Organization.

  5. Enter an Account Username & Password to add the vRealize Automation Organization to the Skyline Collector. Ensure the account used as the minimum required privileges, as outlined in KB Article 59661.

  6. To complete adding the vRealize Automation Organization to the Skyline Collector, click Add.
