Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • You have configured Wavefront in vRealize Operations Manager 7.5 and the test was successful.
  • When trying to push agents you see an error similar to:
An error occurred while trying to verify login with Non Interactive Credentials for VM: vm-NAME Client received SOAP Fault from Server: Permission to perform this operation was denied. Please see the server log to find more detail regarding exact cause of failure.

Environment

VMware vRealize Operations Manager 7.5.x

Cause

The service account used for Wavefront configuration in vRealize Operations Manager 7.5 must have the correct permissions.

Resolution

Currently, Wavefront uses the Collection user of the applicable VMware vSphere adapter instance to push agents.
Ensure the collection user includes the following permissions in vSphere:

Under Virtual Machines and then Guest Operations, the role must have these permissions checked:
  • Guest Operation alias modification
  • Guest Operation alias query
  • Guest Operation modifications
  • Guest Operation program execution
  • Guest Operation queries
Once these permissions are set, you can push agents without issue.

To check the status, navigate to Administration > History > Recent Tasks, and you should see the agent push process as running.
