Issue/Introduction

This alert may appear if a vSAN cluster is vulnerable to a known data consistency defect that may impact guests after a disk-extend operation:

Additional details may be found in Virtual Machines running on VMware vSAN 6.6 and later report guest data consistency concerns following a disk extend operation.

Environment

VMware vSAN 6.6.x
VMware vSAN 6.7.x

Resolution

  1. Implement workaround per Virtual Machines running on VMware vSAN 6.6 and later report guest data consistency concerns following a disk extend operation
  2. Engage Global Support Services to assess possible guest exposure*
  3. Once exposure has been assessed, update ESXi to a fixed release - ESXi 6.5 EP 09, build 10175896 or ESXi 6.7 EP 04, build 10176752 or newer

* Note: Guest exposure cannot be assessed once a cluster has been patched.

Additional Information

This applies to ESXi hosts running vSAN 6.6 or 6.7 prior to the builds documented above.
