Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Performing concurrent backup/restore may fail when using VDDK on a vSphere 6.5 environment.

Environment

VMware vSphere 6.5.x

Cause

This issue occurs due to memory constraint in NFC server and hence cause concurrent backup to fail.

Resolution

This is the default behavior for vSphere 6.5. NFC server is limited on the memory setting in vSphere 6.5 and there is a shrink on the memory setting in vSphere 6.5 when compared to version 6.0.

Workaround:
To work around this issue, VMware recommends to always use a fixed number of parallel tasks for each release of vSphere.
The number can be determined by performing the experiment to run the concurrent tasks until it is failed. The best practice is to use 20 - 30 in the consideration of proxy and workload of ESXi beside transport modes.
