Issue/Introduction

Summary: This article outlines the steps necessary to suppress a specific alert on a specific object type in vRealize Operations Manager. 

1. Create a custom group that contains the objects with "msdb" in the name.

  • Go to Environment > Custom Groups > click the plus sign.
  • For policy, you can select the default one for now. This will be changed later. The object criteria you can drill down and find the objects containing a specific name. When you click "preview" it should show the objects listed that you have designated in the group. If it shows nothing, either the object or objects is offline or the criteria is not correct. Once you have the objects you want, click save.

2. Create a child policy to suppress the alert

  • Go to Configure > Policies.
  • Click on Default Policy and click the Plus sign
  • Give the policy a name. Click on alerts and symptoms
  • Find the alert you wish to suppress. Once found, click on inherited dropdown, and click the Local option with the red circle.
  • Click on "Apply policy to groups". Select the group you created in step one.
  • Click "Save".

Now you should no longer get that specified alert for the object or objects in the group.
