ESXi 6.5 fails to perform a network failover when the fabric fails in a Cisco UCS

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Network failover does not work properly on ESXI 6.5 host when Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnect (FI) rebooted.
  • Network failover works fine on hosts running ESXi 5.5 and 6.0.
  • In the /var/log/vobd.log file, you see entries similar to:

    Note: This log excerpt is an example. Date, time, and environmental variables may vary depending on your environment.


Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware ESXi 6.5 running on nenic 1.0.1.x NIC driver for Cisco.
To resolve this issue, update the nenic driver to 1.0.2.0 version, available at VMware Downloads.
