Timezone customization fails to work for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Host

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
When you use "Customize guest OS" option in vCenter to customize a RHEL Atomic Host VM, the timezone is not customized as expected. Customization failure event could be found in vCenter event log.

Cause

VMware customization process needs to modify the “/etc/localtime” link to the actual timezone file user wanted to customize. While on RHEL Atomic Host VM, the open-vm-tools is running inside container so it has to modify “/host/etc/localtime” link instead.

Resolution

 

This issue is resolved in vCenter Server 6.5 U1, available at VMware Downloads.
This issue is resolved in vCenter Server 6.0 U3c,available at VMware Downloads.
