Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • When clicking on Inventory items in the Web Client, you see this unexpected privilege errors:

    You do not have permissions to view this object or this object does not exist
     
  • In the /var/log/vmware/vapi/endpoint/endpoint.log file, you see entries similar to:
     
      | INFO | state-manager1 | InvProviderClientFactory | Logging out from IS Server... OK
      | INFO | state-manager1 | InvProviderClientFactory | Login to IS server...
      | WARN | state-manager1 | InvProviderClientFactory | Unable to login/logout to/from inventory servicecom.vmware.vim.query.client.exception.ClientException: java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: com.vmware.vim.vmomi.client.exception.ConnectionException: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out

       
    • In the vapi wrapper.log file, you see entries similar to:

      INFO | jvm 1 | 2016/08/10 22:22:47 | WrapperManager: Initializing...
      INFO | jvm 1 | 2016/08/26 14:59:49 | java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded

    Environment

    VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6.0.x
    VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x

    Cause

    This issue occurs due to vapi endpoint memory leak.

    Resolution

    This issue is resolved in vSphere 6.0 U3, available at VMware Downloads.

    Alternatively, to resolve this issue, you can upgrade to vSphere 6.5 GA, available at VMware Downloads.

    To work around this issue, restart the vapi endpoint service and vpxd service in vCenter Server.
