Symptoms:
  • Migrating from vCenter Server 6.0 to VCSA 6.5 fails with the error:

     
    Encountered an internal error. see /var/log/firstboot/vpostgres-firstboot.py_11871_stderr.log
    Resolution:
    This is an unrecoverable error, please retry install. If you run into this error again, please collect a support bundle and open a support request.
     
  • In the /var/log/firstboot/vpostgres-firstboot.py_xxx_stderr.log file, you see entries similar to:

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting vCenter Server 6.0.
