Issue/Introduction

This article contains troubleshooting steps to correct issues with users unable to log in to the VMware vSphere Web Client when manually entering user account information.

Environment

VMware vSphere Web Client 6.0.x

Resolution

Validate that each troubleshooting step below is true for your environment. To eliminate possible causes and take corrective action as necessary. The steps are ordered in the most appropriate sequence to isolate the issue and identify the proper resolution. Do not skip a step.
  1. Verify if other users in the same domain have the same issue.
  2. Verify if you are able to connect to the vSphere Client with the same domain user.
  3. Connect to the vSphere Web Client using the [email protected] account and verify the Identity Source used by the vCenter Server. For more information, see the Active Directory Identity Source Settings section in the vSphere Security guide.
  4. Verify that the user account that is failing has the appropriate permissions to log in. For more information, see see the vSphere Permissions and User Management Tasks section in the vSphere Security guide.
