Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Accessing VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager (SRM) GUI generates continuous and immediate log-in prompts to remote vCenter Server.
  • This issue occurs when SRM is deployed in two sites in an environment in which:

    • The two vCenter Servers may or may not be in linked-mode.
    • The C# VMware Infrastructure (VI) Client is used to access the SRM GUI.

  • You may experience these symptoms:

    • Symptom #1:

      1. Open a VI Client within vCenter Server-1.
      2. Connect to vCenter Server-1.
      3. Log in to the SRM plug-in.
      4. You are then prompted for the remote vCenter Server-2.
      5. Type the login credentials.
      6. While still in the SRM GUI, the user flips from vCenter Server-1 to vCenter Server-2.
      7. You are then prompted to login to remote vCenter Server-1.
      8. Type the login credentials.
      9. The login prompt appears again and this process repeats indefinitely.

    • Symptom #2:

      1. Open a VI Client within vCenter Server-1.
      2. Connect to vCenter Server 2.
      3. Log in to the SRM plug-in.
      4. You are then prompted to login to remote vCenter Server-1 again.
      5. Type the login credentials.
      6. The login prompt appears again and this process repeats indefinitely.

Environment

VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.5.x
VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.0.x
VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.1.x

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting SRM 5.0.x, 5.1.x and 5.5.x.

Notes: If you are running:
  • SRM 5.0.3, 5.1.x or 5.5.x, contact VMware technical support for assistance.
  • SRM 5.8, this issue does not occur as SRM GUI is now managed through the next generation web client (NGC).

To work around this issue, run the VI Client from outside of the vCenter Server machine.
