This article provides steps to download a virtual machine running on vSphere to Fusion Pro. The downloaded virtual machine run as local Fusion virtual machines.

Note: This video provided the steps to follow to complete the example, even of the version is different the steps are the same. 

To download a virtual machine running on vSphere, use the Connect to Server option in Fusion Pro.
 

1. Launch VMware Fusion.
2. Click File > Connect to Server.
3. Type the host name or IP address followed by a user name and the password of vCenter Server or the ESXi host.
4. Click Connect.
5. Verify if the connected server is available under Virtual Machine Library.
   
   Note: Navigate to Window > Virtual Machine Library or use Shift + Command + L to access the Virtual Machine Library.
    
6. Click the host name or IP address of the server to view all the virtual machines present under that host.
7. Shut down the virtual machine which is to be downloaded.
8. Right-click the virtual machine and click Download from Server.
9. Select the location on the local Mac hard disk to store the virtual machine bundle.
10. Click Save to start the download.

After completing the download, you can see the downloaded virtual machine in the Fusion Virtual Machine Library.

Note: The virtual machine will fail to power on if the resources required are not present on the host Mac. Ensure to change or reduce the virtual machine configuration to allow powering on the virtual machine. For more information, see Investigating virtual machine resources in VMware Fusion (1022213).
