Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
When you connect to vCenter Server using the vSphere Web Client and navigate to Home > Networking and Security, you experience these symptoms:
  • There are no NSX managers available.
  • Under Networking and Security Inventory, you see that NSX Managers is reported as 0.
  • When you select NSX Home, you see the error:

No NSX Managers available. Verify current user has role assigned on NSX Manager.
  • Unregistering and re-registering the lookup service in NSX Manager fails.
  • You see the error:

NSX Management Service operation failed. Initialization of Admin Registration Service Provider failed. Root Cause: NSX Manager and Lookup service clocks are not in sync. They need to be synchronized. Please check NTP configuration.

Environment

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2.x
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.3.x
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.0.x
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.1.x
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.4.x

Cause

This issue occurs when vCenter Server and the permission is not correctly configured for the account that is logged in.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, configure the permission correctly for the account.

To configure the permission correctly for the account:
  1. Log in to the NSX Manager using the Web UI.
  2. Click Manage vCenter Registration.
  3. Navigate to COMPONENTS > NSX Management Service.
  4. Ensure that vCenter Server is configured correctly.
Also ensure that the permission is correctly configured for the account that is logged in. For more information on user permissions, see the User Management section in the NSX for vSphere Administration Guide.

Notes:
  • Verify if the same issue occurs with user account [email protected]. If the NSX Manager is visible with this account, ensure that the account that is having the issue is configured correctly with permissions.
  • Verify that the NSX Manager and Lookup service clock is in sync. For more information, see Configuring the SSO Lookup Service fails (2102041).
  • Even after vCenter Server and Lookup Service shows connected in the NSX User Interface (UI), logging out and logging back in using the [email protected] account shows "No NSX Managers available", it may require to terminate existing VC sessions.

You can do this in the vSphere Web Client by navigating to Host & Clusters. Select vCenter > Manage > Sessions > Select All Sessions (except "This Session") > Click Terminate Sessions. Logout and log back in from your session. Confirm if NSX Manager is now visible.
