Issue/Introduction

This article provides steps to deallocate/remove the assigned virtual machine disk Flash Read Cache resources.

VMware vCenter Server 6.7.x

Resolution

Deallocating Flash Read Cache from a virtual machine

To deallocate Flash Read Cache on a virtual machine configured to use this feature:
  1. Open the vSphere Web Client.
  2. Navigate to the Hosts and Clusters view.
  3. Select the host on which the virtual machine is running.
  4. Click the Related Objects tab.
  5. Right-click the virtual machine and Click Edit Settings.
  6. Select and expand the hard disk that is assigned the Flash Read Cache.
  7. Set the amount of Flash Read Cache assigned to 0.
  8. Click OK to apply the changes.

Verifying the changes

To verify the Flash Read Cache resource is removed:
  1. In the Hosts and Clusters view, select the virtual machine.
  2. Click the Summary tab.
  3. Select and expand the hard disk.
  4. Verify the amount of assigned Flash Read Cache is 0.
