Issue/Introduction

VMware Technical Support routinely requests diagnostic information from you when a support request is handled. This diagnostic information contains product specific logs and configuration files from the host on which the product is run. The information is gathered using a specific script or tool for each product.

This article provides procedures for obtaining diagnostic information for VMware vRealize Operations Manager (vApp) 5.x.
For related information on VMware vRealize Operations Standard/Enterprise version 1.x (formerly known as vCenter Operations Standard/Enterprise), see:

Resolution

You can collect diagnostic information for vRealize Operations from the vRealize Operations Standard Administration page.

To collect the diagnostic information:
  1. Navigate to https://IP/admin, where IP is the IP address of the vRealize Operations UI virtual appliance.
  2. Log in using administrator credentials.
  3. Click the Status tab.
  4. Locate the Diagnostic Information section at the bottom and click Download.
  5. When prompted, save the support bundle to a desired location on your local system.
  6. Upload the support bundle to VMware. For more information, see Uploading diagnostic information for VMware (1008525).

Note: In vCenter Operations Manager version 6.X, the Create Support Bundle button is located on the Support tab.
The diagnostic information collected can then be uploaded to VMware Technical Support. To uniquely identify your information, use the Support Request (SR) number you received when you opened your Support Request. For more information about opening a support request, see How to File a Support Request.
Note: In case that the Admin Portal is not available, you can generate a diagnostics bundle from the command-line from either the vRealize Operations Manager (formerly known as VMware vCenter Operations Manager) User Interface, or the Analytics virtual machine.

To generate the bundle, run this command:

vcops-admin diag-bundle.

Note: The support bundle gets created in /data/vcops/support.
