VMware vCenter Server 6.7.x

Resolution

To configure Windows Deployment Service (WDS) to PXE boot with the VMXNET3 driver in Windows Server 2008 R2:
  1. Install VMware Tools on the virtual machine to get the VMXNET3 network drivers. Drivers located in the C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools\Drivers\VMXNET3.xx folder or C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Tools\Drivers\VMXNET3.xx for 64-bit version of Windows [ ex: Windows 2012 ]
  2. Install WDS on your Microsoft Server 2008 R2. For more information, see Windows Deployment Services Getting Started Guide.
  3. Create a boot image and add this image as a boot image. For more information, see Creating Custom Install Images.
  4. Add the driver packages to the boot file using the steps provided in the Microsoft Technet article Managing and Deploying Driver Packages.
  5. Start the PXE boot. The boot file should now start and the installation should proceed.
