Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • The Performance Chart Overview does not display.
  • You are unable to view the Performance Chart Overview for all virtual machines that are contained on NFS storage.
  • NFS virtual machine (VM) Disk stats are missing in the Overview tab.
  • NFS disks stats appear below the overview in mini-chart.
  • NFS real-time Disk Requests show the message No data available, but iSCSI virtual machine disk stats do appear.

Resolution

Note: The Performance Chart Overview for disk performance on NFS storage is not supported on vSphere 4.0.

In VMware vCenter 4.1 Update 2 and 5.0 Update 1 and above the issue is resolved by the addition of two charts for virtual machines on NFS storage. These charts are labeled Virtual Disk Rate and Virtual Disk Requests.
For more information, see the Resolved Issues section in:
If you cannot upgrade, migrate the virtual machine to a supported platform (such as iSCSI or Fibre Channel). For more information, see the vSphere Resource Management Guide.
Note: If the problem still exists after trying the steps in this article, file a support request with VMware Support and note this Knowledge Base article ID (1019105) in the problem description. For more information, see How to Submit a Support Request.
