Installing VMware Tools in a Novell NetWare virtual machine

This article provides steps to install VMware Tools in a Novell NetWare guest operating system. The article uses Novell NetWare 6.5, but the same basic steps should apply to other versions of Novell NetWare.

Resolution

 
To install VMware Tools in a Novell NetWare guest operating system:

 
  1. Ensure your Novell virtual machine is powered on.
  2. If you are running the GUI interface, close it. Click the Novell button > Close GUI > OK.
  3. Click VM in the virtual machine menu.
  4. Click Guest > Install/Upgrade VMware Tools and click OK.
  5. Load the CD-ROM driver by running this command in the Novell console:

    load cddvd

    Note: For Novell NetWare 5.1 or 6.0, run this command to load the CD-ROM driver:


    load cd9660.nss
     
  6. Install VMware Tools by typing the following in the Novell console and pressing Enter:

    vmwtools:\setup.ncf

     
  7. To end the VMware Tools install, click VM in the virtual machine menu, then clickGuest > End VMware Tools Install.
  8. To go back to the GUI interface, type startx and press Enter.
