Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • After upgrading from one version of Fusion to another, the keyboard and mouse in the virtual machine fail.
  • Keyboard and mouse do not work in the virtual machine.

Resolution

This issue may occur if the keyboard and mouse preferences are corrupted during the upgrade. To resolve this issue, you must create a new Keyboard & Mouse profile.

Process to create a new Keyboard & Mouse profile:

  1. Power off the virtual machine.
  2. Go to VMware Fusion > Preferences.
  3. Select Keyboard & Mouse.
  4. Set the Keyboard & Mouse Profile drop down to Default.
  5. Power on the virtual machine and check if the issue persists.
  6. If the issue persists, go to VMware Fusion > Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse.
  7. From the Keyboard & Mouse Profile drop-down, click Edit Profile.
  8. Click the + button to add a new profile.
  9. Type a name for the profile and click Done.
  10. Restart the virtual machine.
