Issue/Introduction

You can change the screen resolution for your Linux guest operating system by rerunning VMware Tools.


Resolution

To change the display resolution in the guest operating system:

  1. Open a Terminal window.
  2. Switch to the root user, by running this command:

    su - root

  3. Launch the VMware Tools configuration program, by running this command:

    vmware-config-tools.pl

  4. Follow the prompts, and make the necessary changes.
  5. Close the Terminal window and restart the virtual machine.

Note: If you prefer, you can edit the X configuration file directly to make the change.
