Resolution

There are two different kinds of mouse movement possible. One kind of movement allow for smoother and more responsive mouse movements by exclusively locking the mouse to the virtual machine. This is often useful for games, and so this is how Fusion refers to it. The other kind of movement allows the the mouse to travel freely between the virtual machine and the Mac, but this can entail a slight loss of precision. Fusion automatically detects which is more appropriate, depending on the circumstances.
 
On some occasions, the automatic detection may not operate correctly. In these cases, you can set the mouse mode yourself.
 
To set the mouse mode:
  1. Go to VMware Fusion > Preferences.
  2. From the Gaming dropdown, choose Always optimize mouse for games.

    Note: You need to click back in the virtual machine for your mouse to be recognized. Hereafter, you need to press ctrl+command to release your mouse from the virtual machine and you need to click in the virtual machine to return your mouse to the virtual machine.
     
  3. If the Always optimize mouse for games setting does not resolve the issue, select Never optimize mouse for games from the Gaming dropdown.
Note: If you are experiencing this issue with Fusion 1.x, you must upgrade to Fusion 2.x to access this feature. Fusion 1 purchasers can upgrade to Fusion 2 for free. The latest release in the Fusion 2 product line is Fusion 2.0.8, which is available from the VMware Fusion Download Center.
