Issue/Introduction

This article provides information about the VDDK permissions required for the GPO configures users.

Note: If backup/restore solution uses VDDK API, then GPO configured user requires all administrator privileges. If they have limited access then they might see this error:

Error founds in VDDK logs as : Error 13 (You do not have access rights to this file)

Resolution

To ensure that you have the correct privileges when you are configuring the GPO, check if you are not limited to the following privileges:
  • file system (vixMntapi particularly)
  • network access (nbd/nbdssl)
  • system information and configuration
  • device access (hotadd/san mode particularly)
