  • You see the error:

The server could not interpret the communication from the client. (The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.)

Environment

Resolution

This is an expected behavior.

Searching for Inventory objects when logged in to the vSphere Client using the Use Windows session credentials option is not supported.

To work around this issue, log in to the vSphere Client by manually entering the login credentials.

To manually enter the login credentials:

  1. Deselect Use Windows session credentials.
  2. Enter your login credentials.
  3. Click login.
