Issue/Introduction

This article provides information about VMware support for the Atlantis USX Software Defined Storage solution.

Atlantis USX SVA is categorized as Network Attached Storage (NAS) Virtual Appliances under the VMware Ready for Storage Virtual Appliance (SVA) Program.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 6.0
VMware vSphere ESXi 5.5

Resolution

Atlantis USX is a complete Software-Defined Storage (SDS) solution. VMware only supports connections to Atlantis USX as NAS Target Array. For supported combinations of Atlantis USX and VMware ESXi, see the VMware Compatibility Guide.

For VMware to support Atlantis, ensure to meet these requirements during deployment:

Server CPU1 host with 1 x 4-core 2GHz 64-bit processor
Server Memory64 GB memory per Host
Atlantis USX CPU1 vCPU reservation, per server
Atlantis USX memory10 GB memory reservation per Host
Networking1x 1GbE NIC per Host
DisksVMFS on DAS, or NAS (iSCSI, NFS, FC/SAN) Storage configuration as supported by VMware.
VMFS datastore The VMFS datastore hosting the Atlantis USX VM must not be shared with any other virtual machines on the ESXi host
