Opening the URL for a virtual machine console in a web browser fails with the error: null

Issue/Introduction
Symptoms:
- This issue occurs after you upgrade to vCenter Server 5.5.
- When you copy and paste the URL of a virtual machine in a web browser to connect to the console, you see the error:
null
- This issue does not occur if you log in to the vSphere Web Client and browse to the virtual machine console.
Environment
VMware vCenter Server 5.5.x
Resolution
This issue is resolved in vCenter Server 5.5 Update 2, available at VMware Downloads. For more information, see the Resolved Issues section in the vCenter Server 5.5 Update 2 Release Notes.
To work around this issue, access the virtual machine console via the vSphere Web Client.
