Issue/Introduction

Environment

VMware vSphere Web Access 4.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 4.0.x

Resolution

If you want to restrict users from accessing Web Access, you can stop and disable the service so that it does not start when you restart your vCenter Server machine, or you can delete Web Access from vCenter Server.
Disable the vSphere Web Access service on vCenter Server
  1. On the vCenter Server machine, select Start > Run.
  2. Type services.msc and click OK.
  3. Stop the VMware VirtualCenter Management Webservices service.
  4. Right-click VMware VirtualCenter Management Webservices and select Properties.
  5. In the General tab, select Disabled from the Startup type drop-down menu and click OK.
Delete vSphere Web Access from vCenter Server

  1. Stop and disable the vSphere Web Access service.
  2. Use Windows Explorer to open C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\tomcat\webapps and delete the ui directory.
  3. (Optional) Use Windows Explorer to open C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\tomcat\work\Catalina\localhost and delete the ui directory.
