Upgrade of Legacy GSX Server or Workstation Templates Triggers an Error Message (9889961)

Details

When I attempt to upgrade a GSX Server or Workstation template to ESX Server 3.x format using Virtual Center 2.x, the following error message appears:

Two conflicting values have been specified - ethernet0.connectionType and ethernet0.vnet

Solution

To work around this problem, add the following entry, depending on the Ethernet device number, to the templates configuration file (.vmtx). The file is located in the VirtualCenter Repository.

Ethernet0.vnet ="" or Ethernet1.vnet = ""

After adding the entry, try to upgrade the template again.
