The "Connect Exclusively to this Virtual Machine" Option Does Not Appear on the VI Web Access CD/DVD Configuration Screen (8582994)

Why can't I specify that the CD/DVD device I'm configuring in VI Web Access is a physical drive connected exclusively to this virtual machine as I can in VI Client?

Solution

Unlike VI Client, the VI Web Access user interface doesn't include a Connect to exclusively to this virtual machine option for configuring a virtual machine's CD/DVD device as a physical drive. However, if you configure the virtual machine's CD/DVD device in the VI Client by selecting Client Device along with Passthrough IDE in the Virtual Machine Properties dialog box, VI Web Access respects the setting of the associated Connect exclusively to this virtual machine checkbox.
