Error: "Internal error 2336, 5:" Installing VMware Workstation 3.x

When I tried to install VMware Workstation 3.x for Windows I got this error "Internal error 2336, 5:" ?

Solution

The error is due to incorrect permission on \winnt\installer folder

Please set full controll permissionfor Administrators and SYSTEM accounts on this folder.

  1. Open Windows Explorer, and then locate \winnt\installer folder
  2. Right-click the folder, click Properties, and then click the Security tab.
  3. Click Administrators and check full control
  4. Click SYSTEM and check full control
  5. Click OK
