Virtual Machines Running SuSE Linux 9.2 Guest Operating Systems Report the Error: "ERROR: Interface is not available"

Details

After virtual NIC configuration, SuSE Linux 9.2 guest operating systems include the PCI path of the vmxnet device in the ifcfg configuration file. Due to a problem in the vmxnet driver, SuSE Linux does not associate the virtual Ethernet device with this configuration file.

Solution

Rename the configuration file. For example:

#mv /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth-bus-pci-0000:00:11.0 /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0
