Data Collection fails with error "Not enough server storage is available to process this command" on Windows NT
Details
- Data collection on a remote server (target) running Windows NT fails with an error.
-
You receive the following error:
Not enough server storage is available to process this command
Note: This message is not due to a lack of storage space on the disk on the remote server. The storage mentioned in the error is in reference to a software buffer.
Solution
The error is generated when the IRPstackSize setting is too small. This issue usually affects Windows NT only.
To adjust the IRPstackSize see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/106167 .

The issue can also be caused by the machine having a non-zero PagedPoolSize in the registry.
To edit this:
-
Log in to the remote server as the Administrator.
-
Open regedit.exe .
Caution: Make a backup copy before making any changes to the registry.
-
Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management .
-
Open the PagedPoolSize key and set to the value to 0.
-
Restart the server.
Lastly, this error may be caused if you installed Windows NT Service Pack 3 or better before installing any networking components. If this is the case, re-apply the last applied Service Pack, and any subsequent hotfixes.
