Error 1720 Seen During Installation of Lab Manager - Problem with Windows Installer Package

Under certain conditions, the following error occurs during the installation of Lab Manager:

Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Custom action SetWin2K3IIS6Mode script error -2147024773, : Line 80, Column 9

Solution

If you see this error message, perform the following steps on the Lab Manager computer:

Go to Account Policy > Password Policy.
Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Settings.
Go to Account Policy > Password Policy.
Right click Minimum Password Length.
Select Properties.
Set the value to 0 (zero).
Right click Password must meet complexity requirements.
Select Properties.
Set the value to disabled.
Re-run the installer.
