Changing VMware Tools Options Affects all Virtual Machines
Details
When I change a VMware Tools option (for example, auto grab),
does it affect only the current virtual machine or all virtual
machines?
Solution
Changes to VMware Tools options are global per-user. The options
are saved in the per-user preferences file when a virtual machine
is powered off. The options are read by each virtual machine when
it is powered on. This means that any options selected in the
VMware Tools will affect all virtual machines started up by that
particular user.
